2026. A new year that brings new goals for many of us, new beginnings for some of us, and for others, more of the same—just with a date change. For me and my family, 2026 is the start of a big life change as I begin my role as the Director of Adult Ministry at Living Word. This is a change I couldn’t be more excited about, but with every change comes some nervousness. I worked at my last career for 8 years, and it is really all I’ve known in my adult life. So as exciting as change can be, it can be equally as scary…
As we start the year I have found myself often listening to one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite musical artists. It’s the song “I Don’t Wanna Go” by Chris Renzema, and this song is one that has brought me a lot of peace over the years – but especially right now. The verses go through different stories in scripture where God’s plan required his people to trust in Him and walk by faith. Then the chorus repeats a simple phrase, “I don’t want to go if you’re not going before me.”
This song has been a needed reminder to me that I follow a God who has gone before me. A God who has prepared the way for me and promises to be with me every step of it. And this good news is true for you too! God is with you, He goes ahead of you, He knows the outcomes of your situations and promises to use them for His glory and your good.
So, whether you are walking into this new year with excitement, angst, hope, grief, or any emotion in-between – have confidence in knowing that God has gone before you. You are in His good hands, and He is orchestrating your life according to His good plans. As Psalm 23 reminds us, He is our shepherd – clearing our path, protecting us, and walking alongside us.
Where God leads, we get to follow with full confidence in these promises. Church family, I’m excited to walk into 2026 with you as we follow the Lord together!
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Praying for clear guidance for you in your new role at Living Word.
Hopefully the last 8 years have prepared you to minister to the people in our church and in the community.
We are SO BLESSED to share your vision.
