Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

My husband Jacob and I were recently blessed with the news that we are expecting our third child due in February! Praise the Lord!

This news has come after almost two years of trying, waiting, and wondering whether our desire to expand the family would ever come to fruition this way. This amount of time was just long enough to cause concern, tempt us to worry, and be forced to surrender the matter fully to the Lord. While we could look back and be angry with God for this difficult season, I find myself thankful for the different ways I was challenged and grown.  I was reminded that I’m not in control, that God is, and (like it says in Romans 8:28) He works all things – even the hard things – for His good.

Looking back over the last two years, I don’t know if we were in a good place to take on the demands of a newborn.  My husband was juggling a lot at the time.  On top of a full-time job and school bus driving in the mornings, he was going through grad school.  And wouldn’t you know, the very same month he graduated from his program, we found out we were pregnant.  Seems like pretty good timing to me after all. Thank you, Jesus!
